Manchester City’s striker Erling Haaland is enjoying his best season at the club where he has scored 51 goals in all competitions.
The 22-year-old Norwegian signed a five-year deal with the Premier League (PL) champions in 2022, which would make him stay at the club till 2027.
However, the initial plan for the Norwegian was to stay at the City for three seasons, instead of five as per his contract, after which he would be looking to switch deals.
However, as per the new developments, Haaland might stay at the club for one more year which would keep him at the club till 2026.
According to English journalist Paul Hirst, the reason for the Norwegian’s stay because he is enjoying his life in Manchester.
Haaland, 22, who has made his habit of breaking records, will be looking forward to break another PL record.
In terms of most goal contributions, which includes goals and assists, in a Premier League season, Andy Cole and Alan Shearer have 47 against their name and are at the top of the list.
Haaland currently has 42 goal contributions and has five more matches to break the record of Cole and Shearer.
Earlier, Haaland broke the record for most goals scored in a single season of the Premier League (PL) in his debut season.
Haaland, aged 22, bagged his 35th league goal in a Manchester City's win over Fulham, breaking the record of two former English strikers Andy Cole and Alan Shearer, who both scored 34 league goals in 41 and 42 matches while playing for Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
"It's a special night and a special moment. I'm really happy and proud. I don't know what else to say," Haaland told Sky Sports. "I knew about the record, of course, but we tried to create chances to score and it wasn't easy because they wanted to defend. We struggled in the first half but they eventually came."
Haaland will be facing the European champions Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League (UCL) semi-final on May 9, Tuesday for the first time in his career.
